Dress-up Party March 6th!

Dear Catwoman, Indiana, Bilbo, Bruce & Jane,

You are cordially invited to attend this year’s much-awaited dress-up event:

the English
section’s Theme Party,
Will take place Tuesday,
March 6th at Zelig! Starting
at 8p.m.

You’ve always secretly dreamt of wearing your nerdy Darth Vader costume but never really had the occasion? – Now is the time to join the dark side of the force at Zelig! We will have cookies.

You want to wear your old Batman costume (bought for a precariously atrocious Halloween party) and prevent the Joker’s attempts to annihilate Gotham City?- Well now is the time to fight against criminals within the University! Phishers, beware!

You’ve always wanted to wear a hat and a whip, but were scared that people would look at you like a weirdo? – Your committee offers you a chance to finally indulge in proudly showing off these classical movie accessories and party all night! – Til midnight.

We look forward to meet all of you fairy tale characters and zombie-eating musketeers,
Your beloved Committee

Xmas Party!

Hello everybody!

The end of the semester is approaching and despite the lack of snow this year, the time has come to warm your heart with music and beers… the time has come to party and celebrate the end of your semester. For that purpose, your committee worked really hard and managed to get the last night available at Zelig: the party will take place on Monday the 12th of December at Zelig!

And as always our local Hero, DJ Evil Santa Digby, will make you wildly dance all night long! So do come and bring your fanciest Christmas outfit ;-)

Beowulf screenings

Dear all,

Professor Denis Renevey is organizing two film screening evenings as part of his class on “Beowulf and popular culture.”
Since we all remember that warrior-lord fondly, this is a great opportunity for all students to discover another side of this myth: the Christophe Lambert, Antonio Banderas, Gerard Butler and more recently and surprisingly maybe the Angelina Jolie side.

It may also prove a nice way of relaunching a kind of English section film-club, as the two evenings will take place in the cosy cinema screening room of the Unithèque. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Screenings will take place Tuesday the 25th October and the 8th November.

Take care,
Your committee.

Back To school party!

Hey everybody! Once again the time has come to plan your schedule, wake up in the morning (or not) and get to work…
All this must be stressful and a little fun might help getting things done, so fear no more friends! Once again the English students’ committee would like to invite you to one of their very special parties, namely the back to school party! It’s a great occasion, especially for the young lads, to get to know people from other years as well as your professors. This year again you’ll be welcomed by the one and only Dj Digby! So do come!
Also, if the crazy idea of bringing / doing snacks pops in your head, please do so! We know that you love eating during those events.

The party will take place at Zelig Wednesday the 5th October around 8 p.m. Looking forward to seeing you!

Bye bye…

Hey!

This year two of our most valuable members are leaving the committee: Luca Da Pare and Tatiana Peneveyre. We would like to thank them for all the work they accomplished during those years and also wish Tatiana a nice year to Edinburg =)

We will look for a new member (most probably a fist year student) to replace those lost members ;-)

Cheers,
The Committee

We need you!

Hey everybody, here is a mail we received from the AEL, they need a student to help them choose a new ‘Professeur Ordinaire’ in Linguistic department of the English section  :

If you’re interested, please send me a mail at: english.commitee@unil.ch
