Independent of any institution, the purpose of the Foundation of the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Lausanne (HEC Foundation) is to support the Faculty of Business and Economics, particularly by providing financial resources to fund specific projects which contribute to its reputation and renown.
The HEC Foundation is a foundation regulated by Articles 80ff of the Swiss Civil Code, and also by its own statutes. It is based in Lausanne, registered with the commercial register and subject to supervision by the relevant authorities.
The Foundation’s board consists of at least four members. Furthermore, the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne is also an ex-officio member. The members of the Foundation’s board exercise their mandate on a voluntary basis.
The Foundation is tax-exempt. It appoints an external independent auditor who is responsible for verifying the annual accounts and drawing up a report to that end and for the supervisory authorities.
The HEC Foundation was created in 2010, for the Faculty’s centenary. It has inherited the legacy of the Association du Fonds du Cinquantenaire de l’Ecole des HEC (Fiftieth Anniversary Fund Association of the HEC), which was set up for the Faculty’s first jubilee in 1961.
On that occasion, a number of donors, primarily leaders of industry from the local area, set up a fund for the benefit of the Faculty. For fifty years, this fund has provided financing for a number of initiatives proposed by the Faculty in its various fields of activity, such as education, research, equipment, publications, conference organisation, teaching staff exchanges, etc.
